PINE OIL DISINFECTANT

Pine Oil 5 parts
Rosin 2 parts
Caustic soda (25% solution) 1 part
Proc: This preparation has a clear amber color and produces a white emulsion in water, but leaves no stain when in diluted form. Heat the pine oil and rosin together in a porcelain container until the rosin has dissolved. Cool this mixture to a temperature of 140F, and slowly stir in the caustic soda solution. In 30 minutes, saponification should be complete. One part of this mixture, dissolved in about 40 parts of water is strong enough to disinfect toilets, bathtubs, basins, garbage receptacles, and similar articles. It may be used in "liquid" form or packed in pump-type spray containers.
